Niger governor, Bago declares public holiday to distribute palliative

Governor Muhammad Umar Bago of Niger State has declared three working days public holidays for the distribution of Palliative in various wards across the State.

The Governor said the three days declared as public holidays in the state are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week to enable those involved in the distribution commence work.

Change of Name

The Governor disclosed this at a media press briefing at the Government House, Minna on the modality adopted for the distribution of the palliative to beneficiaries in the state.

Umar Bago explained that during the period, all ministries and Parastatals in the State will be shut down for three days to enable those concerned carry out the distribution smoothly.

He also directed all political appointees, serving and retired permanent secretaries, directors, present and past Commissioners, all political parties and Local Government Council chairmen, present and past Chairmen of Nigeria union of pensioners are to serve in the committee on the distribution of palliative across the State.

Umar Bago warned that any person caught diverting palliative meant for the people would be made to face the full wrath of the law to serve as deterrent to others.

He then announced that so far, the sum of N2bn with five trucks of rice have already been received from the federal government, while 40,000.00 bags of maize and additional N2b are being awaited.

According to him, the sum of N3.2bn will be disbursed to the 25 LGs as palliative next Monday, adding that N5.2bn will be injected into local markets next week to boast economic activities in the state.
