BREAKING: DSS widens investigation, arrests CBN Deputy Governor Obiora for financial crimes
As the Department of State Security continue the investigation of the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, the Deputy governor of CBN in charge of economic policy, Mr Kingsley Obiora has been arrested.
Mr Obiora was arrested for alleged financial crimes, details of his offence has not been released to the press as at Friday.
The arrest has been published on many conventional and online media platforms, saying that Mr Obiora was accused of mismanagement of funds under Godwin Emefiele, the suspended CBN governor.
CAPITAL POST recalled that Mr. Godwin Emefiele was first arrested for possessing illegal firearms, but DSS later withdrew the charge and slammed him with fresh charges of financial misappropriation.
With the latest charges against the embattled Emefiele, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the boss of Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU, Jim Obazee to probe activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria during the tenure of Mr. Godwin Emefiele who has been in the custody of the DSS since his arrest on June 10.
