Reps ad-hoc committee investigates N2.3 trillion TETFund projects across northern states
The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on investigating N2.3 trillion TETfund projects was in Kebbi to investigate projects executed under TETfund.
Chairman of the Committee, Idem Unyime and his team visited the deputy governor of the State, Umar Abubakar on Monday in his office, where he said, his Committee has been mandated to investigate the projects carried out under the TETFund in tertiary institutions within the state and the entire northern region.
He said their mandate cover projects executed in both Federal and State tertiary institutions.
According to him, the committee was mandated to go round the northern states to investigate the activities carried out in both Federal and State tertiary institutions.
The lawmaker said, the lower legislative chamber was concerned over huge funds spent, but want to know the extent of its judicious use, hence the Committee was set up by the Speaker, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas on 14th July, 2023, noting that education is too important to be overlooked.
He commended the state government for the good reception, and solicited for its support and cooperation in carrying out their mandate.
The Deputy Governor in his response assured the Committee of all necessary cooperation that would enable them carry out their legislative assignments, while he expressed the hope that the will uncover the many abandoned projects in the State.
Abubakar advised the legislative Committee canvass for mobilization of contractors back to sites or to outrightly cancel the contract and re-award it to capable hands for completion.
Present at the occasion were the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala; Head of Service, Sufiyanu Garba Bena; Chief of Staff Government House, Barr. Attahiru Maccido, Commissioners and some local government chairmen, among others.
