Ganduje swears in Meseko, five other NWC officers as Kogi governor lost out [Photos]
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, on Friday sworn into office, six officials of the National Working Committee, NWC, who were elected earlier in the week.
Those sworn into office include, Hon. Duro Meseko from Kogi West Senatorial District, as Deputy National Publicity Secretary and Ikani Shuaibu Okolo from Kogi East as Zonal Organising Secretary in charge of North Central.
Their ratification was detested by governor Yahaya Bello, stating that they were not the choice of the State party, while he urged the National Chairman to accept names he earlier forwarded to the National Secretariat. He personally led protest to the National Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday and having not satisfied, he stormed the personal residence of the National Chairman of the APC, in protest without success.
In what appears a ‘cul de sack’ for Bello, the names of Yahaya Ade Ismail and Hon. Isiaka Musa which he forwarded as replacement of the Deputy National Publicity Secretary and Zonal Organising Secretary were rejected by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje-led National Working Committee.
The All Progressives Congress has officially sworn in the six additional officers into the National Working Committee despite strong opposition from the state chapters of the party in Kogi, Abia and Cross River states.
CAPITAL POST reports that the official inauguration which lasted for over one hour at the APC National headquarters, Abuja was peaceful on Friday.
Other officials from Edo, Abia, Cross Rivers and Borno that make up the six officials were also inaugurated.
Earlier on Thursday, protesters accused the National Chairman of imposing strange elements on their party at the State level, with Yahaya Bello championing the disloyalty to the party.
