We’ll avenge death of military personnel in Niger — CDS
Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has said that military will avenge death of military officers killed by terrorists in Niger State.
He stated this at the burial ceremony of 20 officers on Friday at the National Military Cemetery, Airport Road Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with full military honour.
Some officers were killed in the crashed Nigerian Air Force MI-17E Helicopter in Niger after engaging terrorists.
After laying the wreath on their graves and presentation of the national flags to the deceased’s next of kins, the military chief grieved with the family of the deceased and vowed that the soldiers will not die in vain.
He said: “those that did this, and those that have continued to kill our men, wherever they are, we will get them out, we will smoke them out and we will ensure that they never have any other opportunity to kill any other person, that I assure you.
“We will hunt you down, we will bring you to Justice. We will not relent until we get those causing havocs in the country,”
The Chief of Defense Staff insisted that the terrorists would not go scot-free, stressing that his officers would hunt them down.
20 bodies of the deceased were brought in from Kaduna to the military cemetery located at the Airport road in the afternoon for burial as some of the fallen soldiers have also been buried at different locations.
The event was attended by the Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa; service chiefs; families and well-wishers of the fallen heroes.
