Adams Oshiomhole under fire for accusing Senators of looting

Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District and former Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole on Tuesday came under fire from his colleagues for granting interview on a popular television where he accused the past Senators of the 9th National Assembly of looting their offices at the end of June, 202.

Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan representing Ogun West Senatorial District raised a point of order through which he drew the attention of Senators to an interview Oshiomhole granted and accused Senators of looting their offices.

Olamilekan asserted that his privileges have been breached as a member of the 9th Senate, denying that there was never looting of offices by the immediate past Senators.

Adeola who represented Lagos West Senatorial district in the 9th Senate at the time, said he was embarrassed by the “looting allegation”, and insisted that Senator Oshiomhole should apologise.

Also Senator Adamu Aliero representing Kebbi Central Senatorial District and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, in his contribution on the point of order agreed with the submission of Senator Olamilekan and asked for apology from Oshiomhole.

Felt embarrassed, Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District and former Senate Leader, Mohammed Ali Ndume demanded that the Chamber be dissolved into an executive session for the matter to be discussed considering its sensitive nature.

Ndume’s request was countered as some Senators raised their voices in pandemonium, insisting that the matter be discussed in full glare of journalists and prevailed that the matter be discussed in plenary by voting “nay”.

At this point, Senate President Godswill Akpabio called on Oshiomhole to approach chair. After a brief talk with Oshiomhole, Akpabio called on Oshiomhole to state his own side of the matter.

Having been given opportunity to narrate his position, Oshiomhole apologized and said, he actually defended the immediate past Senators, instead.
