DSS rearrests Emefiele after fight with Prison officials
The Deprtment of State services (DSS) has rearrested Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), after a physical fight with officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
The fight occurred in front of Nicholas Oweibo’s courtroom at the federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
CAPITAL POST ealier reported that the Federal High Court granted the former CBN boss bail in the sum of N20 million.
However , Nicholas Oweibo, the presiding judge, ruled that the embattled CBN governor be remanded at the correctional centre, pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions.
While officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service were preparing to take Emefiele with them into prison custody, the DSS operatives insisted on taking him, on the ground that they have been instructed to rearrest him. This led to a physical fight between the DSS and Prison officials.
Shortly after the brawl, the prison officials left the premises of the federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
