Bayelsa: Diri reads riot act to troublemakers in Nembe Kingdom

Bayelsa State governor, Mr Douye Diri, on Friday read riot act to trouble makers in Opu-Nembe Kingdom in Nembe Local Government Council of the State, warning that they would face the wrath of the law, if they don’t desist forthwith.

The State governor made his position known when the Nembe Se Congress paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Yenagoa.

Change of Name

The governor who was pained by pockets of crisis rocking the LG noted that his administration would not fold his arms seeing few bad elements formenting trouble in the State, particularly in the Bassambiri community.

The governor in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Daniel Alabrah, on Saturday, which was obtained by CAPITAL POST, the governor expressed displeasure over the actions of a few people fomenting trouble yet playing the victim.

He stated that the government would take appropriate action against anyone found wanting, irrespective of their status.
He said, “As a government, we will not sit down and watch anybody make Nembe-Bassambiri ungovernable.

“Let me say this with all sense of responsibility that those who have been playing politics with security in the area will be dealt with no matter how highly placed.”

Diri stressed that without peace, development would elude the people of the area and that all hands ought to be on deck to ensure that peace prevailed in the Bassambiri community.
