The Senate Minority Whip and Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Oyewumi Kamorudeen Olalere has disclosed that Senator Abba Moro was among lawmakers that consented to the emergence of principal officers.
Senator Olalere gave this disclosure while interacting with journalists on Tuesday in Abuja.
His statement followed reactions trailing the emergence of Minority Leaders including himself as the Senate Deputy Minority Whip, explaining that Senator Abba Moro representing Benue South Senatorial District also signed the papers.
“In th 10th Assembly, Sen. Abba Moro was fully in the picture of all that happened during the signature collection that produce the minority leader.
“People are speculating that Sen. Abba Moro was not treated fairly by not giving him the position of Minority leader, but he was among the people that signed for the emergence of the leadership of the 10th Assembly.
“My party, the Peoples Democratic Party and other Minorities did not complain or disown the list that the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio read on the floor of the Senate that produce our leaders as speculated.
“Our leaders were produced according to the requirements of the law, in the list signed, 35 out of 50 members signed the list. So what do people want to see again?”
He dismissed rumours making the round that the emergence of minority leaders of the 10th Senate were influenced from outside, describing it as baseless.
He said: “We want people to see how we nominate our leadership in the 10th Assembly. Our nomination cut across all the geo political zones of this country and this will tell that we are independent as an arms of government”.
