The Governorship candidate on the platform of Accord Party in the November 11, 2023, Vice Admiral Jibrin Oyibe Usman (Rtd) on Saturday in Abuja denied stepping down for the Social Democratic Party candidate, Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka.

Akpabana as fondly called was reacting to a report in digital and social media, saying, the report was misleading and the handiwork of his detractors in other political parties who have been in panic over his rising political profile having been acceptable across the three Senatorial Districts of Kogi State.

Change of Name

In a statement which was released on Saturday by his campaign team, Kogi Unity Agenda and signed by Akwu Umar Goodman, pointed out that the report was fake and should be discountenanced by Kogites who are already getting set to vote him into office as executive governor of Kogi State.

The statement read:

“This is to put the record straight even as our attention has just been drawn to the fake information making round on social media, on the purpoted stepdown of Admiral Jibrin Usman a.k.a Akpabana, the Governorship candidate of Accord Party from the Nov. 11/11/23 race to Lugard House.

“It’s a complete falsehood, figment of imagination of the floating Sam who are desperately looking for water hyacinth to grab.

“Those who have made the issue of governorship a do or die affair, but forgotten that it is only God that ordain leaders.

“The pictures in circulation were clicked in early part of June 2023 right in Admiral’s office premises at Jahi in Abuja, when he hosted all the Governorship candidates of Kogi East extraction to rob minds on way forward.

“Though the discussion continues on how to resolve the political conundrum of the moment, Kogites should be rest assured that with the intervention of Almighty God, the best man for the job will be chosen at the end to fly the consensus flag.”

The statement explained that Admiral Usman was aware of trauma Kogites are passing through, while he urged to resilient, and boot out bad governance in the State, adding that he would address the challenges of desease and poverty that is killing the state slowly.
