BREAKING: Bello sets to auction all assets in Kogi State before leaving office

Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has approved the auction of all assets which the State inherited from the old Benue State that are located in the Local Governments in Kogi East Senatorial District.

In a letter dated 8th June, 2023 addressed to the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture, Lokoja which was signed by the Head of the Civil Service of Kogi State, Mrs Odiyo O. Hannah, who double as Chairman, Committee on Audit, Documentation and Valuation of State Assets and Liabilities drew the attention to the planned disposal of the State assets.

Change of Name

The letter titled: “Notice of Disposal of Non-Essential and Underutilised Assets of Kogi State Government”, listed the Local Governments in the Eastern part of the State as places where the affected assets are located.

Part of the letter which was obtained in Lokoja by CAPITAL POST on Friday read: “Your attention is hereby drawn to the decision of government to dispose non-essential and underutilized assets of Kogi State as approved by the governor of Kogi State.”

The affected assets are:
1. Ministry of Agric Warehouse buildings A-K (11 units) in Idah, Idah LGA
2. Agric Quarters, GP, 61A&B in Idah, Idah LGA
3. Ministry of Agric land and building, Okpo, Olamaboro LGA
4. Ministry of Agric Land before First Bank, Ankpa
5. Demonstration Farm, Ejoko/Ajokolo, Ankpa
6. Ministry of Agric Land and Building behind Local Government Secretariat, Ankpa
7. Old Forestry Yard along Egume Road, Anyigba
8. Veterinary Clinic and Produce, Egume, Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Council
9. Veterinary Clinic Land, Abocho, Dekina LGA.

The letter urged the Commissioner for Agriculture to reassign officers whose offices are going to be affected so as not to constitute encumbrance to the disposal of those assets.
