Election petition: Governor Uba Sani panics, appoints INEC’s Festus Okoye’s younger brother
Obviously rattled by the ongoing Kaduna State governorship election tribunal, governor Uba Sani has appointed Mr. Fabian Okoye as Special Adviser on Research, Documentation and Strategy and the appointments takes immediate effect.
Fabian Okoye is the younger brother of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye.
The panic appointment alongside 13 others, CAPITAL POST learnt, was part of measures to find a way out of the legal logjam occasioned by the heavily manipulated Kaduna governorship election between the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Some stakeholders in Kaduna politics have expressed fears that there might be compromise in the ongoing election petition, given that INEC will serve as witness depending on the progress of the tribunal proceedings.
In a press release by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Muhammad Shehu Molash dated 19th June, 2023, which was obtained by CAPITAL POST in Kaduna over the weekend, Mr Fabian Okoye is the number 6 on list of the newly appointed Special Advisers.
The statement read: “Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has approved the appointment of 14 Special Advisers.
The new appointees are:

2. Atiku Sankey – Peace and Conflict Resolution
3. Dr. Daniel Manzo Maigari – Political Affairs
4. Ibrahim T. Muhammad – Economic Matters
5. Dr. Mustapha Musa – Legal Matters
6. Fabian Okoye – Research, Documentation & Strategy
7. Dr. Abdullahi B. Ahmed – Project Monitoring, Implementation and Result Delivery
8.Mary Adeola Olarerin – Programme Monitoring & Evaluation
9. Sagir Balarabe Musa – Human Capital Development
10. Muktar Ibrahim – Chieftaincy Matters
11. Sabiu Sani – Investment & Promotion
12. Bridget A.O. Sulaiman – Social Investment Programme
13. Dr. Abdulkareem Mayere – Energy
14. Samaila Suleiman – Counselor, Infrastructure
“The appointments, which take immediate effect, are in recognition of their wealth of experience, extensive knowledge, dedication and commitment to service.
“The Governor congratulated the new Special Advisers and urged them to see their appointments as a call to service. They must therefore discharge their duties with diligence and humility. He wished them God’s guidance in the discharge of their assignments.”
