Assassination attempt on SDP candidate, Muritala, Ojuju Agbadufu Igala calls on FG to protect Kogi citizens
The Apex Socio-Cultural organization of Igala Youths worldwide, Ojuju Agbadufu Igala has condemned the attempted assassination of Muritala Yakubu Ajaka by Governor Yahaya Bello’s hitmen on Saturday.
The President-In-Council, Mr Christopher Ukwenya described the dastardly act which Yahaya Bello personally supervised as unacceptable to Igala land and people under any guise.
He called on the Federal Government to protect Kogi citizens, failure for which the citizens will resort to self defense. adding that the governor is desperate about the forthcoming election and ready to do anything to install his brother as successor
It is obvious that Muritala Yakubu Ajaka’s popularity ahead of Kogi State governorship election slated for November 11 2023, has dwarfed even the negative popularity of his anointed cousin, Ododo Ahmed Usman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, hence, the resort to the coward’s alternative.
In an interview with CAPITAL POST in Lokoja, Ukwenya submitted that Bello’s action on Saturday and his mad rush to the media alleging attack on his convoy was not only heinous, but media terrorism to silence the opposition contestants ahead of the election.
The organization’s leader maintained that Igala Kingdom is solidly behind all candidates contesting governorship election and will be ready to defend them against attacks.
“We have thought over the attempt to snuff life out of SDP governorship candidate and we want to reiterate here that Igala Kingdom will defend all candidates now that it’s clear that the governor is waging war against our sons, including those who were and are members of his own Party”
He recalled that in the last 7 years, there were unresolved issues of missing persons in Kogi Central because of the governor’s intolerance of the opposition, but Igala people would henceforth, put their acts together for their self defence.
He called on the Security agencies to rid Kogi State of military camouflage and other security accoutrements and weapons used by thugs working for the governor especially those who reside in the Government House disguising as political aides.
“These arms bearing thugs would go after their target to maim, kill and destroy lives and thereafter retreat to the Government House.”
Ojuju Agbadufu called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to call governor Bello to order, by acting quickly on the petition by the SDP governorship candidate which was submitted to the presidency and copied all heads of security agencies.
