May 29: Bankole congratulates Tinubu, new governors, call for inclusion of PWDs in offices
The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Mr. Tolu Bankole has congratulatated Nigeria’s new president, Bola Tinubu and State governors inaugurated today, May 29 in Abuja and most states in the country respectively.
Bankole in a statement made available to CAPITAL POST, also called on the new administration to consider Persons with Disabilities for the management of strategic positions in government both in the National and States level without sacrificing federal character.
On Nation’s borders, the PWD National Leader advised that the management of the borders be carried out with caution. He however urged the Nigeria Customs Service to deploy latest technologies for trade facilitation, clearance and security at the borders.
The statement reads, “I congratulate the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR, most heartily, for his doggedness, diligence, democratic resume and uncanny dexterity before, during and after the contentious general election leading to this phenomenal feat. I felicitate with the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, for being a part of history and the astute team who will deliver on the Renewed Hope in the next four years.
“On this occasion, I rejoice with all the Governors; re-elected and newly elected, Senators and House of Representatives and States Assembly Members across the various states in our dear country on this historic occasion which has positioned them to itch their names in gold by delivering dividends of democracy.
“I congratulate Nigerians for being witnesses to history.
“The elections are over despite the ongoing legal tussle and the task ahead is so enormous than to continue unpatriotic rhetorics capable of distracting the new administration. All hands must be on deck to unite the country, deliver on security, power, economy, health, employment, education and other sectors in a timely, prosperous, equitable and inclusive manner.
“I have no doubt that Mr President with his wealth of experience, Spartan determination and knack for spotting the best is ready to deliver Renewed Hope that will bridge the wide gulf between the rich and poor and ensure Nigerians have a better life, improve standard of living and economic prosperity for all.
“Also, a delicate balance must be struck in handling the nation’s borders with a charge to Nigeria Custom Service to be more professional and deploy latest technologies for trade facilitation, clearance and security at the borders.
“I call for improved recognition and participation of Persons With Diabilities, PWDs in governance as cabinet Ministers and Managers in strategic planning and placements.
“The President must ensure that all those whose stock in trade is hanging around the corridors of power for ulterior motives and eye service don’t get recognition this time around. The new administration has its jobs cut out, first has to be assembling round pegs in round holes without sacrificing federal character and inclusive of persons with disabilities, youths and women.
“Finally, the government must deliberately put in place policies that will reduce and eradicate poverty.
“Again, I wish the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, a successful tenure”.
