Kogi governorship: Ex-Naval Chief, Jibrin Usman emerge candidate
Vice Admiral Jibrin Oyibe Usman, Rtd, has emerged governorship candidate of Accord Party ahead of November 11, election.
He emerged through a supplementary election of the Accord party which took place on Tuesday in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
Usman polled a total of 105 votes to emerge in a transparent process which was supervised by Independent National Electoral Commission officials as stipulated by the Law.
The logo of the party is ‘hand’ which is usually on number one in the absence of AA on the ballot papers.
The emergence of Usman, who popularly called ‘Akpabana’ may change the political permutation of Kogi politics as pundits see another force traíling those earlier affirmed before him.
Akpabana contested for Kogi governoship on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2019, but lost the ticket to Yahaya Bello who is now completing his second tenure of office.
The man Jibrin is from the Igala speaking area of the State being the majority and he is generally loved by the people across the state because of his achievements and professional accomplishment while serving as the Chief of Naval Staff during President Goodluck Jonathan administration.
With Akpabana of the Accord Party platform, the governorship race will change pattern with three leading candidates among others.
