Kogi ‘Yahoo, Yahoo, rituals: LG Chairman constitutes joint security taskforce against menace
Okene Local Government Council Chairman, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad has constituted a joint security taskforce to tackle the menace of ‘yahoo, yahoo and money rituals that is prevalent among the youths in the locality.
The development was at the backdrop of rising cases of teenage boys in Okene Local Government Council getting indulged the fraudulent activities at a high rate.
In a statement on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the Chairman, Mr Abdulmumin Abubakar, which was obtained by CAPITAL POST in Lokoja, the Chairman pointed out that the activities of these criminals include, but not limited to hacking of citizen’s bank and social media account details and using same to commit financial crime, which has become a huge embarrassment to the State.
According to him, the criminality followed the harvesting and sales of vital human organs, through fake spiritual consultants with intent to dubiously obtain money from unsuspecting members of the public.
The statement averred that the ritualists believes in the potency of young girls organs, thereby leading to the high rate of kidnapping, killing of female victims and occultism practices, adding that such was unacceptable.
“Unfortunately, these evil doers found some identified areas, residential buildings and hotels within Okene Local Government as comfortable zones for their criminal operation.”
Engr. Abdulrazaq advised parents, community leaders and ward heads to step up their game and regularly scrutinize the activities of their children, residents and visitors to the community respectively, while he directed hotel owners to be vigilante and report any suspected customer to the nearest security outfit.
He commended the Security Joint Taskforce saying their work has yielded positive results as no fewer than 27 persons have so far been arrested within few days of operation.
