Magu: Security attachees withdrawn, to report at Force headquarters
Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu has directed all Police officers attached to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during the tenure of Ibrahim Magu to report at the Force Headquarters on Monday, 13th July, 2020.
The withdrawal followed Ibrahim Magu’s suspension from office as the EFCC boss.
CAPITAL POST reports that Magu was arrested by Nigeria’s Secret Police and force his appearance before Justice Ayo Salami-led Presidential panel on alleged corruption.
Upon the panel’s directive, he was detained and has been facing interrogation since Monday. There were reports that when his house was raided on Tuesday, some documents which were taken away are assisting the panel in the probe of Ibrahim Magu.
Moreso, the latest directive on withdrawal of Police officers covered police security guarding the official and personal houses of the suspended acting EFCC Chairman, Mr Ibrahim Magu.
“The EFCC facilities should be sealed with only staff of the agency to be allowed access into the premises”, according to the directive.
CAPITAL POST earlier reports that the human rights activist and ex-lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani suggested that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission should be recalled.
In a post on his Facebook page, Sani said, “Magu group”, and “Chairman’s Squad”, exists in EFCC and these officers who report directly to Ibrahim Magu behaves like cults.
