Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has approved the appointment of 64 youths as board members into various State parastatals.

In a leaked governor’s directive to the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mrs Folashade Arike Ayoade, 30 youths are to be employed from Kogi East, 15 from Central, while 10 are to come from the Western Senatorial district. It wasn’t clear where the remaining 5 are coming from.

Change of Name

The able bodied youths to be recruited across the State in disguise as board members, they are to work with Friday Sani Makama ahead of November 11, 2023 governorship election.

A source told CAPITAL POST in Lokoja on Thursday that after their employment, they would be redeployed to join the Director General of Special Taskforce on illegal smuggling of fire arms.

CAPITAL POST recalled that governor Bello appointed Friday Sani Makama to head the Special Taskforce on May 9 vide a letter from the SSG.

Makama was a two time House of Assembly member representing Igalamela/Odolu State Constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and a former majority untill things went awry and he left the State since.

His return as Director General of the Special Taskforce on illegal smuggling of firearms has been trailed with criticisms, particularly on fears of thuggery resurgence in Kogi East Senatorial District.
