10th NASS leadership sparks protest as group demand inclusion of North Central
A group under the aegis of All Progressives Congress (APC) North Central Stakeholders on Monday, stormed the National Secretariat of the party to protest the exclusion of the North Central from the zoning arrangement.
Speaking, they complained that the purported zoning arrangement by the party was not favourable to the region.
The group, led by Salihu Ibrahim, noting that have been marginalised, expressed dissatisfaction over the exemption of the zone for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.
Making their demands before newsmen at the party headquarters, Ibrahim said, “What is our position and what is good for us as people of the North Central is the reason we are here to see the APC National Chairman today. We are asking not too much, we are asking that the speaker of the 10th assembly should be zoned to North Central. That is what we want for now.
“We didn’t come here for the candidacy but for the interest of North Central. The North Central should be taken in accordance and should be recognised and appreciated by the APC National level. If Abdullahi Adamu under his watch, can allow this to happen to us, yes we respect his leadership, and his stability in the party but the stability is not paying the North Central well If we have nothing Nationally given to us as regards the parliament.
“The 10th Assembly speakership should be zoned to North Central if they can’t give us the Senate President”.
