Bello, Ododo visit APC National Chairman amid grievances rocking party in Kogi
Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello and the former Auditor-General and the acclaimed winner of the April 14, 2023 Kogi APC governorship primary election, Ododo Ahmed Usman on Wednesday visited the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu in Abuja.
This is the first time, the APC Chairman was receiving Yahaya Bello and his anointed candidate amid grievances rocking the party over the manipulation and brazen electoral fraud which the Electoral Committee Secretary, Patrick Obiahagbon declared Ododo winner.
Bello and Ododo were quoted to have been warmly welcomed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Onogwu Muhammed.
Onogwu said, the party Chairman congratulated Ododo and expressed his delight at the party’s prospects for success in the November 2023 gubernatorial election in Kogi State.
According to him, the APC gubernatorial candidate, promised not to disappoint the party and the people of Kogi state,.saying that he will build on the legacy and achievements of the current administration of Yahaya Bello when elected.
“I want to thank you and the leadership of our great party for the peaceful conduct of the party’s primaries in Kogi, which I won, and others in Bayelsa and Imo states, respectively. I promise to consolidate on the gains of the present administration of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello, and it is our collective belief that we shall win the November 2023 gubernatorial election for our party. I want to use this singular privilege to seek your fatherly prayers as we move closer to the general election,” Ododo said.
On April 14, 2023, the Kogi State APC Primary Election Committee announced Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo as the winner of the Kogi APC Governorship Primary Election, having polled 78,704 votes to defeat other contestants in the race.
Meanwhile, other contestants are protesting and insisting that the primary election be cancelled as the exercise lacks transparency.
The party has however, yet to officially react to the exercise.
