Following the Court judgement in favour of Senator Ifeanyi Ararume that he should be restored as a non-executive Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Limited, President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, sued for calm from all parties involved.

The President said due process would be observed.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has set aside Ararume’s removal from office by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 17, 2023 and granted award of N5 billion damages against Buhari.

Ararume had sued Buhari to court praying it to declare his removal as the NNPCL chief illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional and that it was a total breach of CAMA law under which the NNPCL was incorporated.

Furthermore, he prayed the court to issue an order to return him to office and also demanded N100bn as compensation for the damages he suffered nationally and internationally.

But reacting to the development, the President said, “The administration respects the Rule of Law, and nothing will be done outside it to resolve the matter,” according to a statement signed by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, on Wednesday.
