Governor Yahaya Bello midway into the meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC meeting of governorship aspirants held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Kogi State Liaison Office, Asokoro, Abuja, angrily walked Senator Smart Adeyemi out of the meeting.
The meeting was convened at the instance of Kogi State governor to brainstorm ahead of party primary slated for Friday April 14.
CAPITAL POST under cover agent revealed that Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Smart Adeyemi took turn to speak and he wanted the audience to see reasons with Kogi West Senatorial District.
Continuing, he mentioned that Kogi East has the largest population, followed by the West and the Central comes least, saying it was the turn of the West to produce Bello’s successor.
As he tried to make case by appealing to the governor to consider people of the west to allow power shift, Bello became furious and told Smart that he was never invited for the meeting and ordered him out of the meeting before he would be bundled out.
Smart walked out of the meeting in full glare of other aspirants and party chieftains in anger.
The scario was followed with insults and mockery by some aides and supporters of Yahaya Bello and political hangers-on largely from the Central Senatorial District within and outside the venue.
Checks by CAPITAL POST indicated that all governorship aspirants on the platform of the APC, all serving political office holders on the APC, those that were recently elected as well as other Chieftains were all invited for the parley.
As a result of the development, Bello warned against lawsuits as a result of grievances occasioned by party governorship ticket, adding that whoever wins will work with others.
Against insinuations of his choice of candidate amidst defeaning rumours making the rounds that the Okene born State Accountant-General and childhood friend of the governor, Alhaji Jibrin Momoh would be his successor, Bello never endorsed anyone yet.
