Terrorists demand N30 million for 100 kidnapped Zamfara villagers
The sum of N30 million is being demanded by terrorists before releasing over 100 villagers who were abducted from Wanzamai village in Zamfara State.
Among those who were abducted on Thursday April 6, 2023 from farmlands in Zamfara and Katsina States are women and children.
A source said that in Wanzamai village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, about 80 children were kidnapped.
According to the source, who said no fewer than 20 other persons from neighboring villages were abducted, explained further that the abductors had called some of the victims’ families and demanded that N60m must be paid before the children could be released.
“Negotiations have started in earnest and the kidnappers have reduced the ransom to N30 million. They asked the families of the victims to go and raise the money,” the source added.
The State Police spokesman, CSP Muhammad Shehu, said the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kolo Yusuf had reassured the public, especially families of the victims, that the command in collaboration with the military and the vigilantes were making efforts to rescue the victims alive and return them their respective families.
