Bello dissolves local government administrators four years after
Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Tuesday dissolved all the 21 local government teams that were appointed in May, 2016.
In a press release signed by the Secretary to Kogi State government, Dr. Folashade Ayoade, the Governor approved the dissolution following the constitution of the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) and the expiration of the tenure of administrative team.
The Administrators and their team were directed to handover the reign of power to the Directors of Local Government (DLGs) in their respective local government areas from from Wednesday.
According to the Ayoade, the dissolution of the council administrators and their team was inline with the preparations of the state government to conduct free, fair and credible elections at the local government levels soon.
Governor Bello commended members of the Administrative Teams for their profound contributions to the development of their respective councils and the state at large.
Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Evang. Kingsley Fanwo reiterated the position of the SSG, stressing that the dissolution is expedient given that the tenure of the administrative teams has elapsed.
“The reasons for the dissolution were clearly stated in the statement issued by the SSG. Kogi is a state that respects the constitution and constitutionalism.
The tenure of the Administrative Teams has elapsed and it is constitutionally expedient to dissolve them in line with the constitution.
