Interim Government: Tinubu supporters warn youths against anti-democratic influence
Ahead of May 29, 2023 inauguration of a new government, a group operating under the aegis of Disciples of Justice, have cautioned against anti-democratic influence, saying some elements are planning to cause trouble.
Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja, the group’s National Chairman, Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, said those calling for Interim National Government, ING are real enemies of democracy that should not be listened to.
He said, a mandate has been given to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima and Nigerians should allow the mandate to run its full course, even as interim government is unknown to the constitution.
The supporters of Tinubu urged Nigerians not allow their sense of reasoning to be clouded by religious or ethnic sentiments but be concern about good governance.
“We can not be celebrating illegality. Anyone calling for the interim government is anti-democratic.
“Nigerians have given their mandate to Asiwaju and on May 29, he will sworn in. Nothing will stop his inauguration.
“We urge Nigerian youths not to allow themselves to be used by anti-democratic forces to cause trouble. Tinubu is capable and fit to turn things around,” he said.
Another member of the group, Hon Ibrahim Bello, a former House of Representatives member, also appealed to those who are aggrieved about the outcome of the last election and have a compelling need to seek redress should simply approach the law court to seek justice.
He said, “We must not allow our emotional attachment to either religion or ethnicity to push us to destroy what will be difficult to undo.
“Let us all calm down and return to our real senses. In every contest, there must always be a winner and a loser; but with maturity and understanding everyone will become victorious.
“The loser should take courage to congratulate the winner and be ready to work with the winner to move the country forward. Nigeria is bigger than the interest of anyone.
“The youths who want to be leaders of the same country tomorrow should also remember that if they allow the desperado politicians to use them to destroy their today and tomorrow, they will have no tomorrow afterwards.
“I appeal to the winner, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be ready to become the true Father of the Nation. A father that needs to solve all Nigerian problems without considering religion, ethnicity or number of votes secured from any region.”
