Troops eliminate 5 bandits, recover 4 AK-47 rifles in Kaduna [Photos]
Five bandits have been killed by troops of One Division, Nigerian Army operating in Chikun Local Government Area in the Southern Kaduna State, while 4 AK-47 rifles were recovered.
The operation that led to the killing of bandits was a continuation of an onslaught against bandits and other criminal elements terrorising the North West part of the country.
The revelation was contained in a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Public Relations of the Division, Lt. Col. Musa Yahaya on Friday.
According to him, a clearance exercise was conducted by the troops on road to Kanti-Tantatu in Kubusu forest and Kaso hills general area of Kaduna State.
“To deprive bandits and criminals freedom of action so as to create an enabling environment for economic activities and legitimate businesses to strive.”
Lt. Col. said, bandit s suffered attack by the troops in the operation that started on Thursday till Friday which they were neutralised as well as the capturing of four AK 47 rifles, six AK 47 magazines and 24 rounds of 7.62mm.
Others included three motorcycles, one matchet, two handsets and some charms.
According to the General Officer Commanding One Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Joint Task Force Operation, Whirl Punch, Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the troops and commended their commitment and resilience during the operation.
He also urged citizens to continue to support the troops and other security agencies with credible and actionable information that would assist in the fight against the criminal elements.
