Kogi University female VC dragged to Court over alleged diversion of N31 million
Trouble has ensued for the first female Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, Prof. Marietu Tenuche for unlawful diversion of N31 million belonging to the University Alumni Association.
Having enmeshed in the financial mess, the VC of the ivory tower formerly known as Kogi State University, alongside one other person have schemed the alumni association out of the Council meetings where decisions are taken with regards to financial transactions.
Hence the University management under her leadership was dragged before Justice F Ajayi of the State High Court sitting in Anyigba.
In a suit marked AYHC which its hearing commenced on Thursday 30th March, 2023 filed by the claimant – Prince Audu Abubakar University Alumni Association before Hon. Justice F . Ajayi, the claimant in a motion is seeking an
interlocutory injunction restraining the University from holding any Council Meeting without the inclusion of the Alumni pending the hearing and determination of the substantive matter before the court.
“The motion is seeking a restraint order against the University from unlawfully withdrawing from all the banks used in the collections of the alumni fund.
The counsel to the Defendants F.O Ekpa Esq applied to the Court to file a motion on notice for extension of time within which to file the Defendants counter affidavit which was however granted by the Court.
On the substantive matter against the Defendant, F.O Ekpa Esq also applied to the Court to grant relief to file the Defendant memorandum of conditional appearance, statements of defense which was filed out of time which was also granted by the court.
The Defendant however filed a motion of preliminary objection challenging the competency of the clamant before the court.
The case was however adjourned to 3rd May 2023 for hearing as court ordered the clamant’s counsel Ibrahim Shuaibu Esq to respond to the said notice of preliminary objection formally.
