An Ekiti State Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has remanded a 42 year man, Mr Sunday Obasuyi for selling a grandpa of 82 years, Michael Obasuyi to ritualists for N1.8 million.
He was taken to the Nigeria Correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital alongside other accomplices, identified as Akinniyi (51) and Bobafe Sunday (51) for kidnapping and killing the octogenarian for ritual purpose.
Magistrate Bankole Okuwasanmi on Wednesday ordered their remand at the Correctional pending a legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in Ekiti State.
When the were arraigned, the Police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants conspired and kidnapped the aged man on February 1, at about 11am in Agbado-Ekiti, Gbonyin LGA, and that his corpse was, some weeks, later discovered in a shallow grave.
The prosecutor alleged that the first defendant, Obasuyi, conspired with Akinniyi and sold his father for N1.8 million to the third defendant, Sunday, who was an herbalist.
He noted that the offences contravened Sections 280, 279 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
