Senate Presidency: It’s unfair if a muslim emerge
Senator representing Niger East in the 9th Assembly, said, it will be unfair for a Muslim Senate President to emerge in next National Assembly.
The lawmaker reacted on Tuesday after receiving a Congratulatory message card from the New Media Forum following his re-election in the just concluded general election.
Senator Sani said “this prestigious gift will ginger me to work and knowing that online journalists are trailing me and I will try as much as possible to conduct myself in the best standard as a parliamentarian”.
Reacting to his position in the race of Senate President, Sani said “I’m a party loyalist, and who believed in the supremacy of the party, if the party zone the office of the Senate President to North Central, I have already indicated my interest as it’s the right of every Senator, and if the position is not zoned to North Central and it happens that the office of the Deputy Senate president is zoned to the North Central then that’s the office I’ll go for”.
Senator Sani maintained that, it will be injustice if all the heads of these three organs of government are all muslim given secularity of.the country. Where is the equity in leadership?”
“As far as I’m concerned, I believe that we should have a spread of powers, we are all competent people, all those that are aspiring at the moment are all qualified and competent for this and I believe we should give the party some space so that they will be able to unite this country, because there’s no better time that we want unity than now”.
