BREAKING: Adeleke defeats Oyetola at Appeal Court

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has defeated the former governor Adegboyega Oyetola at the Appeal Court in a judgement delivered by a three panel of justices on Friday.

The panel sitting in Abuja declared Ademola as the authentic winner based on information generated by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BIVAS.

The appeal was the aftermath of the January 27 2023 judgement of the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which upturned Adeleke’s victory.

The tribunal cited over voting in 744 polling units in the State as reasons for voiding Adeleke’s victory.

Friday’s judgement of the Appeal Court faulted the tribunal’s ruling for relying on oral testimony of witnesses on overvoting before voiding Adeleke’s victory.

“The appeal is meritorious and is thereby allowed.”
