Kogi guber: Senator Oseni dismisses zoning ‘rhetorics’, vows to slug it out with anyone
Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Yakubu Oseni who has indicated to contest for Kogi State governorship election has dismissed any form of zoning arrangement among the three Senatorial Districts in the State.
He described the purported zoning as mere rhetorics, saying that he was ready to slug it out with anyone having purchased nomination and expression of interest forms.
He wondered how some aspirants like himself will be drumming for zoning when Kogi East ruled the State for 16 years consecutively before God interjected them.
The lawmaker and governorship aspirant stated this while speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, saying: “There is no zoning arrangements in Kogi State governorship race. The electorate are the ones to determine by chosing their leaders.
“The wrong impression by the people that the governorship of Kogi is zoning is not correct, there was nothing like that before or now. Kogi East ruled for 16 years until God decided to change it, so where is the zoning arrangements?”
He insisted that zoning is a retrogressive mindset and religious or tribal sentiments must not be allowed in nowadays politics, hence, people should dwell on ability to deliver.
He added: “It’s who can deliver, and that will be judged by the electorate through political manifesto.
“Let’s the electorate chose who has what it takes to offer and to deliver to people of Kogi State”.
Oseni said he has capacity to govern Kogi State, while he was ready to implement the manifesto.
As the APC governorship primary has been rescheduled for April 10 2023, Oseni cautioned that people should be allowed to decide and not an individual person no matter how highly placed.
“Hence, it’s not in the hand of any individual to select who will be the Atate governor, let people decide.”
