The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has denied that he was lobbying for the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tininubu.

Gbajabiamila who didn’t state clearly whether he’s interested in the job or not while reacting to the media report said he.knows nothing about lobbying for the Chief of Staff.

CAPITAL POST on Friday reported that the Speaker has started lobbying for the Office of the Chief of Staff, a position that Hon. James Abiodun Faleke was interested in.

While addressing journalists on Monday, Gbajabiamila said, his absence at the international conference centre (ICC) last week when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented certificates of return to elected members of the 10th house of representatives was due to his campaign engagement in Lagos.

He said, it was never because he was busy lobby lobbying for the Office of the Chief of Staff that he absentee himself himself, recalling that he was equally not around to pick his Certificate of Return in 2019.

He said, “I don’t know anything about that chief of staff thing.

“All I heard was that I didn’t come here last week to pick up my certificate and for that reason, somebody conjectured that I must be in line for the office because I didn’t care about my mandate.

“I was in Lagos and I could not leave Lagos because I was campaigning for my party. That’s number one. Again, it’ll interest you to know that I was not here four years ago to pick up my certificate because I couldn’t make it.

“I don’t think it is anything significant. I’ll pick up my certificate today or tomorrow.”
