2023: APC accuses PDP of playing religious card during campaigns in Plateau
The Plateau Chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC has accused the opposition PDP of playing a religious card during campaigns just to scored cheap Political sympathy in the state ahead of the Saturday governorship and States House of Assembly elections.
State Publicity Secretary of APC, Hon.
Sylvanus Namang in a press statement issued on Wednesday to journalists in Jos said while the APC is concentrating on engaging the citizenry on how it is going to deliver on its well laid out programmes as enunciated in its Action Plan for a better, united and prosperous Plateau, the PDP in the state on the contrary, has embarked on a most bizarre, satanic and outrightly tragic social media campaign of calumny against their shinning and well focused gubernatorial candidate, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda.
The APC said in as much as they do not want to descend so low as the clueless PDP in the state, but they are calling for restraints in its awful and destructive brand of campaign.
“The party since the February 25th presidential election has incoherently concentrated on spewing tissues of falsehood against our candidate which would not in any way change the love of the electorate for Dr Nentawe Yilwatda’s bid to Little Rayfield.
“The PDP has thrown caution and decency to the winds and labelled the APC candidate who is the son of a late renowned Reverend of the COCIN denomination as the candidate of the Hausa- Fulani or caliphate simply beceause of his accommodating disposition as against their divisiveness and intolerance.
“When that failed, as it is the ranting of a party whose presidential candidate ignominously crashed in the February 25th polls, it has now turned its senseless propaganda to a purporte Mission to destroy the Church on the Plateau by Nigeria’s Vice President-elect, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima!
According to the gale of lies the PDP is brandishing, the Vice president- elect who is of the Kanuri extraction with very strong affinity to many indigenous Plateau ethnic nationalities ranging from the Mwaghavul, Afizere, Gamai, Boghom, Bashar et cetra, allegedly sneaked into Jos to accomplish his mission of destroying the church “using his agent Dr Nantawe Yilwatda”.
According to the very false and unconvincing narrative by the PDP in the state, the Vice President- elect plans to spend two days in Shendam to be hosted by the Director General of the Industrial Training Fund, Sir Joseph Ari, a worthy and well respected son of Plateau State and a devoted Catholic faithful who has brought great honour and value addition to the state as the Director General of ITF to launch his Islamic agenda in Yelwa and Wase.
“This is as laughable as it shows how shallow the PDP can be. Does the Vice President- elect need to launch a so-called jihad in places the PDP has already branded as Islamic dominated as Yelwa and Wase instead of at Du, Pankshin, or Langtang for example?
The PDP needs to know that the religious card it is dangerously playing shall surely not fly as it can only succeed in destroying well built relationships between and amongst the intrinsically linked ethnic groups on the Plateau.
Plateau State is a miniature Nigeria where tribes, tongues and religions differ but its inhabitants co- exist harmoniously and breath new lease of life for the past eight years.
“Before selling this dummy to the Plateau electorate, is the PDP aware that the Vice President- elect is related to the current COCIN President through marriage?
“Elections shall come and go but what happens to the relationships that the PDP is frantically tyring to destroy?
Plateau state cannot be conquered by any force moerso in this 21st century as being propagated by the PDP and some undiscerning and emotion- ladened spiritual leaders.
“Our ehthic and religious diversity should remain our source of strength.
The PDP should not take us back to the dark old days where religious and ethnic hatred terribly tore us apart until the peace building efforts put in place by Governor Simon Bako Lalong which has become a model being copied by other states of the Federation.
“From the PDP destructive nature, the very enlightened electorate in the state are advised to distant themselves from these false and end time puritanic pretenders in the state who are sheep in wolf clothes.
“Nentawe remains your dependable choice for a united, prosperous and peaceful Plateau State and deserves your stamp of approval through your votes on 11th March.
