As Oyo State has been under the grip of insecurity, armed robbery, brigandage and motor park touts who are freely embarrassing and intimidating people without the State government having any solution to end the ugly trend, the All Progressives Congress Candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin has raised concerns which he described as appalling.
The lawmaker said, the State governor, Seyi Makinde has failed woefully in addressing the menace, hence, there have been increase in cases of vices across the 33 local government areas of the state which they people are yearning for a change of administration.
While welcoming the aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who have shown up en masse to work for his success in next Saturday’s governorship election, Folarin equally told them that the rejection of PDP in last Saturday’s presidential and parliamentary election in Oyo was an evident that Makinde should be ready to quit.
Folarin who is currently representing Oyo Central Senatorial district and the APC governorship candidate promised the aggrieved PDP members who have moved over to APC that he would live up to his promises at the State and National levels.

Change of Name

He said: “The reality of incessant armed robbery, inter-street clashes, brigandage of Oyo State Park Managers, banditry, burglary, cult rivalry and other social vices have become daily occurrences. The unfortunate aspect is that the present administration in Oyo State is insensitive, tolerant and incapable to arrest the situation.

The summary of it all is that Oyo State is in a state of security breakdown, therefore requiring urgent rescue.
The APC governorship candidate promised to administer differently in a manner that Oyo State will be safe for everyone living in the state to do their businesses and be secured with their properties.

Meanwhile, the State governor, Seyi Makinde is losing grip of the State as people are moving into the APC with their likely support base. The development, however, is occasioned by the governor’s betrayal of the Peoples Democratic Party in last Saturday’s presidential and parliamentary elections that led to PDP’s woeful outing in the State.

Makinde is a member of Nyesom Wike-led group of G-5 governors that betrayed PDP and refused to support their presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. Atiku has lost the election, but without its consequences on the G-5 governors as those of them who contested for senatorial seat all lost.

CAPITAL POST reports that Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, a member of G-5 contested for Senatorial seat as he will be rounding-off his second term of office in May and he was defeated.

The same trajectory of tragedy befell governors, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State. They are all members of G-5 governors that plotted the downfall of the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party based in Ibadan, Adesina Ademola who spoke with CAPITAL POST on political development in Oyo State ahead of Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections said, it is over for Seyi Makinde for betraying his own political party.

He said Makinde’s betrayal of PDP has badly affected the structure and strength of the party as voters are waiting to vent their anger through the ballot papers on Saturday. He added that other G-5 governors who contested for seanatorial seats lost and the same fate would be repeated in Oyo State.

“Seyi Makinde has destroyed PDP in Oyo State for joining forces with Nyesom Wike and his allies to work against PDP and I can surely say that it is over for him. As other governors who are in the same boat with him capsized, Makinde will follow suit on Saturday”, he said.

Meanwhile, in what appears as panic move, Makinde has made Rivers governor to commission some projects within the week and also paid workers salaries last week.
