The House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila has been accused of working behind the scene for the release of the detained House Majority leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa.

Doguwa is the Reps Majority leader who contributed immensely to the emergence of Femi Gbajabiamila as Speaker of the lower legislative Chamber in 2019.

The embattled lawmaker allegedly led thugs in attack on the New Nigeria Political Party, NNPP, where he was said to have fired gun and shot several supporters of the opposition dead in Kano.

Thugs supporting him were said to have set the building hosting the NNPP on fire.

After the incident, Kano State Police Command invited him for interrogation, but he shunned the invitation and wanted to sneak out of Kano to Abuja before he was nabbed at the Aminu Kano International Airport and taken into custody.

Having been arraigned at the Magistrate Court in Kano for culpable homicide with his bail application adjourned to March 7 for hearing, his kinsmen have accused the Speaker of the House of Representatives and Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of colluding for his release.

According to the concerned citizens led by Alhaji Nura Muhammad Dankade in address with Media on Thursday, he said Kano State governor and the Speaker are mounting pressure on the judiciary for the release of the arsonist lawmaker.

Dankabe said he was drawing the attention of the public to the precarious condition of the people arising from dastardly acts of arson and brigandage unleashed on defenceless citizens, leading to loss of lives, injuries and destruction of properties on February 26, 2023.

He noted that Doguwa was standing trial for illegal possession of fire arm which he used to gun down some NNPP supporters in Kano.

He explained that the current efforts by the leadership of National Assembly tantamount to the subversion of justice and a lack of empathy and compassion for the victim families of Tudun Wada and Doguwa Local Governments.

Dankade, therefore, warned that if this nefarious act prevails with the approaching of the Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly Elections on March 11th, 2023 will constitute an immense threat to the peaceful conduct of the forthcoming election

The former Commissioner commended the efforts of the security personnel and agencies for their efforts in rescuing the ugly situation that befell the people of Tudun Wada and Doguwa LGAs.

Nura Muhammad Dankade appeal to the “Presidency, National Security Adviser, Inspector General of Police, Director State Security Services, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and all National and International Stakeholders to come to the rescue of the ever-peace-loving people of Tudun Wada and Doguwa Local Governments of Kano State.”

As at the time of going to press there were no words from the Kano state government on the propriety or otherwise on the substance of the allegations.
