BREAKING: Atiku to challenge election results in Court
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar on Thursday said, he will challenge the outcome of last Saturday’s presidential election results in Court.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC was declared winner early Wednesday by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Having rejected the election results, the Peoples Democratic Party insisted that it won the presidential election.
Speaking at a press conference on Abuja, Atiku described Tinubu’s victory as a “rape of democracy”, and should not be allowed to stand.
Atiku said, “The battle to fight the wrong of Saturday is not about me but about Nigeria’s future. The battle is to deepen democracy and the future of the youth.”
He said last Saturday’s election was an opportunity for Nigerians to reset their country, but was aborted by the conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“INEC failed woefully to live up to expectations. The manipulations and fraud were unprecedented.
“It was a rape of democracy. The process and outcome of the presidential election were grossly flawed in every aspect,” Atiku added.
