Security operatives foiled hoodlums attempt to set INEC office on fire in Kano

Security operatives on Sunday morning foiled attempt to set the Independent National Electoral Commission, IN C office on fire in Takai Local Government Area of Kano state.

An eye witness told journalists in Kano that clash ensued between different political party supporters at the LG INEC office in Takai town as a result of issues during the collation of results at the LGA.

Some aggrieved supporters lighten a fire behind the building with intention to raze the building, but it was put off before fire could do much damage by the security operatives.

After quenching the fire, operatives dispersed the crowd

He said: “However, some people sustained injuries from the fracas that initially broke out; but they have been taken to the hospital for treatment while four persons have been reportedly killed.”

The Police PPRO SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa in Kano, when contacted also confirmed the incident to newsmen and said that hoodlum set fire at the generator house behind the office building.

“It was from the generator house that they put out the fire. It was hurriedly brought under control and security operatives have been intensified in the area,” he said.

Kiyawa, however, said he was not aware of loss of lives.
