COVID-19: Kogi group cry out, writes FG over death of high profile persons in State

Kogi State socio-cultural group, Ujache Igala Association has written to the Federal government seeking intervention in high profile deaths ocassioning COVID-19 pandemic.

The group lamented that prominent citizens were dying due to suspected coronavirus, noting those who died works and resides in the State.

Change of Name

In a statement by Pastor Samuel Ugbede which was obtained by CAPITAL POST, the group allayed fears that if the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, does not intervene immediately, the ugly situation will continue unabated.

They explained that the State government was not taking responsibility as well as there were no advocacy about the pandemic, insisting that the Federal Government owed it a duty to intervene in circumstances that the citizens found themselves.

“Our lives are no longer safe, federal government should come to our rescue
We are begging the Task Force on COVID-19 to send Doctors and Materials to Kogi to save the lives of the innocent and poor people of the state.

“Our government is not taking responsibility, there is no advocacy and public awareness on this dreaded disease in the State.

“The belief here is there is nothing like COVID-19, but the death of the State CJ, Justice Nasiru Ajana has brought the drama to an end.

“It t is now confirmed that Coronavirus is in Kogi state and has started claiming lives, it is left for the people to take precaution now.

“Coronavirus is no respecter of any individual, group of people, a state or country, even the Almighty America was not left out.

“With the death of justice Nasiru Ajana the Chief Judge of Kogi State in isolation centre in Abuja, the issue of denial of the Virus in the state has been laid to rest.

Ever since our Governor has always insisted that the virus in not “real” and so it couldn’t have been in the state. His assumption has been proved to be false and constitute tissues of lies, as such he has endangered the lives of the people base on his stand and directive that people should ignore the warnings.

The group further faulted the State government for not insisting on the observation of NCDC protocols a situation they said, worsened the situation.
