Fashola urges INEC to reveal number of collected PVCs
As Nigerians goes to the poll this weekend, the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reveal the number of people who have collected their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday in Abuja, the Minister said public awareness on the number of collected PVCs will assist the commission reinforce the credibility of the general elections.
Fashola who is also the Director of Election Planning and Monitoring Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), said he is certain other political parties will buy this idea.
He said he is optimistic that the former governor of Lagos State and Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu will emerge winner in the presidential elections.
Over 93 million registered voters were issued a Permanent Voters Card by INEC but the commission did not reveal the number of persons who collected their PVCs and those who did not.
Recall that INEC ended the distribution of PVCs on the 5th of February 2023. According to its National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, there would be no further extension of PVC collection.
