2023: Renowned Islamic Cleric’s endorsement of Jos North/Bassa candidate generates anger in Jos
The Constituents of Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituents of Plateau State have expressed unhappiness with the statement of a renowned Sheikh Yahaya Jingre against the APC Candidate of the House of Representatives for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan popularly known as Babs.
Sheikh Jingre was said to have endorsed the incumbent member, Hon Gwani Mohammad Alkali of the PRP against Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan of the
APC, but the endorsement saga has been rejected by many who said, Hon. Babs is the most preferred candidate by both Muslim and Christians in Jos North and Bassa Federal Constituency.
It is a known fact that the Reps Candidate who is currently the House of Assembly member representing Jos North North Constituency has shown good representation irrespective of tribe and religion.
Some Constituents who expressed sadness over the development have vowed to ensure that the APC Candidate wins the election.
Buba Umar, is a strong APC member and also a resident of Jos north has this to say, “what the Sheikh did was his own opinion and decision, but we will surely cast our votes on Saturday to demonstrate our show of love to Hon. Baba Ibrahim Hassan who has shown good representation in the House of Assembly.
Also wpeaking is Isaac Dauda from Bassa, who said, “We have witnessed the APC Candidate going to campaigns throughout Jos North and Bassa, even though being a muslim, but he has shown love to Christians and even demonstrated capacity as a true leader, no single individual can decide for us, we are looking for leader and member that will unite both Christians and Muslims, so we are solidly behind Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan.
CAPITAL POST gathered that the Candidate of the APC is never distracted by the statement of the Sheikh and has continued with his campaigns to win the Reps election for Jos North/ Bassa Federal Constituency.
It is also clear that the APC Candidate has been campaigning not on the basis of religion as the PRP candidate stands, as the Saturday elections remain a few days, all is now set to see who emerges as the winner.
