Naira Scarcity crisis: Sanwo-Olu preaches peace
Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday reacted to naira swap violent protests in Lagos, Ibadan and other parts of the country, saying it was needless.
The governor said his government has taken note of their views on the naira scarcity due to the swap policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
CAPITAL POST earlier reported that there was violent protest in Ibadan, Oyo State capital and Lagos as a result of scarcity of banknotes.
According to him, there is a suit pending at the Supreme Court, hence, there was no need for protests, but patience, while should await the outcome of the judgement.
“Lagos State has since joined the legal dispute – all in the interest of our people – in the belief that the highest court in the land has the capacity to adjudicate on the matter”.
“The fuel situation is easing following some steps taken by the government”.
“The government praises Lagosians for showing understanding, despite the pains that the Federal Government’s measures have brought. Residents should continue to be law-abiding by shunning any form of incitement by mischief makers”.
Mr. Governor is working with his colleagues to ensure that this hardship does not go on.
