Kogi APC primaries: Controversy trails delegates list, as group threatens to go to Court
With Kogi State governorship primaries slated for April, 2023, the delegates list put together by governor Yahaya Bello is currently generating controversy that may end up in Court any moment from now.
An All Progressives Congress APC, group operating under the aegis of.
Kogi Mandate Group has urged the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu to disregard a purported delegates’ list for the forthcoming Kogi governorship primary for lack of transparency.
The group noted the list was not a true reflection of Kogi State APC decision as it was lopsided and configured to suit an individual’s whims and caprices rather than the interest of the party in the State.
The APC mandate group through their lawyers Atlanta Partners, based in Abuja, further in a letter dated February 15, alleged that the list was allegedly concocted in Kogi Government House, which was supervised by governor Yahaya Bello without following the due process specified in the Electoral Act.
Head of the law firm in the letter titled, ‘Complaint/appeal against the submission of purported delegates names/list in respect of Kogi Primary Election for 2023 Governorship election’, issued a preaction notice if the purported delegates list was not withdrawn.
Barrister Ogbodu said, “We are Solicitors to Kogi Mandate Group and its leaders, Messrs Audu Sule, Isah Yahaya and Ahmed Momoh, hereinafter referred to as our clients on whose instruction we write.”
He explained that the Kogi Mandate Group was an association of APC members spread across the three Senatorial districts of Kogi, who have irrevocably committed themselves to market APC and its policies.
“Our clients, the leaders of Kogi Mandate Group, are committed, loyal and productive members of the party, APC and are desirous of contesting delegates election in respect of the forthcoming governorship primary election in Kogi,” the letter stressed.
