Naira redesign: Yahaya Bello, El-Rufai, storm Supreme Court
Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello and his Kaduna State counterpart, Nasir El-Rufai on Wednesday stormed the Supreme Court to witness proceedings on the naira redesign.
They filed a suit challenging the cashless policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The two governors arrived the court room around 8:30am in company of their followers and top government functionaries.
The Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria want the implementation of the policy that has ended the lifespan of old naira notes on 10th February, 2023.
Governors Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai and Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State that took the Federal Government to Court to challenge the naira redesign.
A seven-member panel led by Justice John Okoro, had on February 8 halted the move of the Federal Government in a ruling in an ex-parte application brought by three northern states of Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara.
