He said, the quarry which sits on 0.8 kilometer square property being dislodged from the site is the third best in the country in terms of its modern technological and computerised sophistication.

The Chairman said, the quarry has capacity to produce 2,500 tons of granite, boulders and dust, noting that the Federal Government took over the property after a month of quarry operations.

He said: “We appeal for Federal Government’s quick action on the demand for compensation over takeover of our land and business premises for the ongoing construction of Correctional facility at Karshi, a border community between FCT and Nasarawa State.

“This particular land and business premises is actually a quarry company operated by Mini Corporation Ltd for which some of our members have stakes, many others run businesses of supplies, transportation.”

The stakeholders said, the appeal has become necessary as the investments and business activities have been crippled, amid increasing interest in bank loans.

Citing further reasons for the compensation, Inuwa said, the quarry site was legally procured from the Federal Ministry of Mining and Solid Mineral Development with all necessary evidences.

He however, noted that the management of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA held a meeting with mining stakeholders and admitted error on their side with regards to the provision of Land Use Act, 1978.

Stakeholders further appreciated the Federal Government as the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCS, Halilu Nababa invited the management of quarry company for a discussion on compensation.
