5 dead, several others injured in fresh communal crisis in Anambra community
Communal crisis has erupted in Anambra leaving five persons dead, while several others sustained different degree of injuries.
Monday’s crisis between Anaku and Omor communities in the Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State has been as a result of prolonged tension.
Though, no official statement from Anambra State Police Command, CAPITAL POST was told by a local that the crisis was related to boundary issues between the two communities.
The telephone conversation with State police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, before filing this report indicated that there have been heavy deployment of a joint task force team which comprises police and military around the communities.
Ikenga said: “I don’t have any brief on it yet, but in the early hours of Monday, 6/2/2023, the command received a distress call of alleged sounds of gunshots within the community of Omor and Anaku, Ayamelum LGA.
“There has been heavy deployment of a joint task force team which comprises police and military. The situation is being monitored.
“Further development shall be communicated, please,” Ikenga said.
