2023: El-Rufai threatens to fight ‘Villa Cabals’ working for Tinubu’s downfall
Kaduna State governor Malam. Nasir El-Rufai has threatened to fight those he believed were plotting for Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s downfall ahead of presidential election later this month.
El-Rufai believed that those working against the presidential candidate of the APC are elders he has respect, but may be ready to fight them if they continue their sabotage against the APC.
El-Rufai had sparked a controversy on Wednesday when he said some persons in Aso Rock were working against Tinubu.
Kaduna State governor spoke on BBC Hausa saying: “Respecting people is not fear, I swear we don’t fear anyone in this country, so we are not fearful, we are respectful but if you show us you are not an elder, I swear we will fight you.”
The interview he granted to BBC Hausa was confirmation of his earlier outburst on Channels Television where he spoke and made reference
El-Rufai spoke in apparent response to the “Villa elements” he referred to in the Channels interview.
He said, some elements in the Aso Villa who supported a different presidential candidate are queueing behind President Buhari to pursue their interests.
He said: “I believe there are elements in the villa who want us to lose the election because they didn’t get their way; they had their candidate. Their candidate did not win the primaries. “
“They are trying to get us to lose the election, and they are hiding behind the president’s desire to do what he thinks is right,” he had said.
