Patience Mpaka’s MLJ FDN is committed to empowering women in tech
Popular NGO, Mpakaboari LongJohn Foundation (MLJ FDN) has revealed its commitment to empowering vulnerable women across Nigeria with relevant technology skills to drive economic inclusion of women.
According to the co-founder of the non-governmental organization, Patience Mpakabori LongJohn, to support economic growth, lessen the vulnerability of women, and increase independence, it is important to ensure that every woman in Nigeria has access to financial, educational, social, and political empowerment.
Mpakabori, however, expressed her commitment to economically empowering women so they are financially independent through her Foundation.
She stated that the empowerment initiative would be a continuous activity, that would positively impact women and their families, noting that her foundation’s concern is to make them self-reliant, productive, and effectively play their role as wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters in their various homes and the society at large.
Mpakabori, further disclosed that her foundation is focusing on tech because IT organizations are currently looking to make a difference in gender diversity, or for women seeking to develop rich IT careers.
“We took it upon ourselves like several nonprofits who have been created to empower and uplift those who identify as women in IT, improving gender diversity in the industry, and closing the pay gap between men and women,” she disclosed.
“We aim to reduce poverty by empowering Nigerian women. Empowerment is the growth of women’s political, social, and economic strength in the development of a nation”, she added.
