Jigawa PDP governorship candidate warns desperate politicians against engaging youths as thugs
The Jigawa State Peoples Democratic Party PDP, governorship candidate in the 2023 general election Dr. Mustapha Sule Lamido has condemned the engagement of youths as political thugs.
He was reacting to Tuesday’s incident at a campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kazaure LGA of the state where thugs working for APC engaged in ferocious fight leading to death of one of them, describing the development as unfortunate, while calling on politicians to see that “the blood of Jigawa indegenes shouldn’t worth their political ambition.”
He commiserated with APC over the loss of one of their members, who was identified as Halliru Lafka, who was killed in a violent clash between rival youth groups of the APC, who until his death, a resident of Kazaure town and a supporter of the party’s senatorial candidate for Jigawa North-West District, Babangida Husseini.
Lamido spoke on Thursday while addressing PDP supporters in Gwiwa Local Government Area, as he condoled with the people of the state over the death of the youth resulting from fracas between two APC factions.
He promise not to relent on his call for issue based campaign, as he advised the youths in the state to refuse to be used as tools by some unpatriotic political leaders to achieve their selfish interest.
Lamido said, he is offering himself as an agent of positive change, as he called on the Jigawa people, particularly the youths and women to vote for him so that together the mission can be achieved.
Mustapha Lamido who was elated with the kind of reception accorded him by the people of Gwiwa LGA assured them of his desire to unite Jigawa citizens saying, the youth and the women will form significant part of his government if given the mandate.
He said as a youth, he is offering himself as Nigerian/African youth ambassador and therefore promised not to fail them, saying, he is fully aware that, all eyes are and will be on him as the youngest Governor come 2023.
He renewed his promise to the youth and women in the state that, thirty five per cent of his government’s appointments will be for them.
Outlining further on some of his policies, he said, the agricultural sector will be given the required boost to create job opportunities to make the youth self employed and improve production.
Mustapha Lamido promised free medical care for all 70yrs and above older persons under his government while civil servants as the engine room for development will re invigorated through training and retraining so as to achieve the desired goals.
“Traditional institutions, business community, teachers and Islamic education sectors will play key role(s) in the government as he appealed to all concerned to support him in his Rescue mission to rebuild Jigawa.
Dr Lamido promised not to fail the Nigerian youth when elected as the next Jigawa state Governor.
Earlier in his address, Jigawa state former governor, who is also PDP s Senatorial candidate in the area, Alh. Ibrahim Saminu Turaki described Jigawa as a one party state in view of the fact that all key political players are in the PDP.
He urged the voters to reject the APC, describing it as a Political Party that lacks direction.
Turaki pleaded with the people to vote massively for Mustapha Sule Lamido being their son describing his visit to the area as home coming.
He promised to jointly work with the Governor to introduce modern agricultural techniques in the area to achieve food security and create job opportunities.
Dr. Saminu Turaki said, under Mustapha Sule Lamido’s Government of the PDP, total peace will be restored while the menace of poverty and unemployment will be fought and eradicated.
