Fleeing terrorists hiding in Katsina, kill three villagers
Terrorists fleeing military operational bombardments in the North west are reportedly hiding in Katsina in the North Western Nigeria.
The terrorists on Tuesday attacked and killed three villagers in Jajar Kanwa village, in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, while two others were injured due to gun shots and their domestic animals rustled.
There were said to have carted away money, handsets and food after ransacking their homes.
Local source said the terrorists stormed the village at about 2am on motorcycles fully armed with weapons, including AK-47 rifles. They abducted six villagers including a pregnant woman.
The terrorists were reported to have directed the villagers to contribute N20,000 each within the next seven days when they said they would return to pick up the money or face consequences.
The spokesman for the state police command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident.
He said, “Yes, two people were killed and three were injured. Due to the ongoing operations in Sokoto and Zamfara, a large number of terrorists/bandits are trooping into Katsina through Zamfara.
“It was while they were coming in that they attacked some villagers at Kanwar Jaja, Jibia LGA. But no kidnapping took place.”
