For exposing plot to charge the Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele for terrorism charges, operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS reportedly stormed the residence of Mr Godwin Meliga, President of Middle Belt Youth Vanguard and arrested him.
Family members of the activist confirmed to journalists in Abuja that the DSS operatives arrested him at midnight on Saturday at his Gwarimpa residence after barges into his premises.
Meliga was said to have been assaulted before he was handcuffed even when he wore underwear at the time of his arrest.
Meliga who was part of the coalition of groups which exposed the plot by the DSS to frame the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele for terrorism financing has been on their trail since he blew the lid open, even as one, Samson Babalola was on Thursdays arrested when he was seen with Meliga’s car.
A family member also told journalists that the secret Police felt embarrassed for exposing their plot before it could be carried out.
He said: “The DG felt utterly humiliated by the press conference of the Coalition of National Interest Defenders exposing the plot and that all members of the leadership of the coalition will be arrested for causing the DG such embarrassment.”
Expressing concerns over her husband’s ill- health, his wife revealed that Meliga has routine drugs he takes religiously and this unwarranted arrest would put his life in grave danger.
